Coffee FAQs: Quality, Subscriptions & Giving

Have questions about NewDay2 coffee? Learn about single-origin, micro-lot coffee, specialty coffee quality, tasting notes, coffee subscriptions, and how your purchase supports life-affirming initiatives.

What is single-origin, micro-lot coffee?

Single-origin coffee comes from an identifiable origin rather than a blend of multiple origins. A micro-lot is a small, separately managed lot of coffee. Together, these practices help tell a clearer story about where your coffee comes from and what makes each lot distinctive.

Keeping lots separate supports traceability and focused attention to processing, drying, storage, and quality. For NewDay2, single-origin, micro-lot coffee means celebrating distinctive flavor, sourcing transparency, and attentive care from origin to cup.

What is specialty coffee, and what does the SCA do?

The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) supports the coffee industry through education, research, and standards. Coffee professionals use evaluation methods to assess qualities such as aroma, flavor, acidity, body, and balance.

Under the traditional 100-point scoring system, a score of 80 or higher meets the specialty coffee scoring threshold. NewDay2 coffee meets this quality benchmark.

What is washed-process coffee?

NewDay2 coffee uses the washed process. The coffee cherry’s outer fruit is removed, and the sticky layer surrounding the seed is broken down and washed away before the beans are dried.

Washed processing is often associated with a clean, distinct flavor profile that highlights the coffee’s origin. Controlled drying and protection from excess moisture during storage help discourage mold growth and preserve quality. Washed processing alone does not guarantee that coffee is mold-free.

What do coffee tasting notes mean?

Tasting notes describe flavors and aromas that a coffee naturally brings to mind, such as chocolate, citrus, or nuts. They do not necessarily mean those ingredients have been added. Check the individual product description for information about added flavors or ingredients.

How do I choose a coffee I’ll enjoy?

Start with the flavor description and roast level. If you enjoy bright, lively flavors, look for fruit or citrus notes. If you prefer a rounder, richer cup, look for chocolate, caramel, or nutty notes.

Your brewing method and personal taste also shape the experience. Use tasting notes as a starting point, not a promise that every cup will taste exactly the same.

How does a NewDay2 coffee subscription work?

Choose your coffee and grind preference, then select a delivery schedule: weekly, every two weeks, or monthly. A coffee subscription is a recurring order, so you do not need to place a new order for each scheduled shipment.

Before completing checkout, review the subscription price, delivery frequency, shipping charges, and cancellation terms. Refer to your subscription details for instructions on changing your delivery frequency or canceling.

Where does the 10% from my coffee purchase go?

NewDay2 allocates 10% of revenue from every retail bag of coffee to a dedicated internal fund supporting life-affirming initiatives for the pre-born and their parents. These initiatives include:

  • Mobile ultrasound units: Supporting the placement and operation of medical vehicles that provide free ultrasound imaging and care to women in their communities.
  • Support for mothers, fathers, and the pre-born: Providing practical resources and financial assistance to help parents choose life, along with support after birth as they navigate parenthood.
  • Support for frontline workers: Supporting sidewalk counselors who assist parents.

Purchases of NewDay2 coffee products are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. The 10% allocation is made internally to a corporate earmarked fund supporting life-affirming initiatives.
